About the role
Join our Building Engineering Services (BES) group in our Charlotte, NC or Raleigh, NC office as a Mechanical EIT/Designer. You'll coordinate mechanical aspects of commercial or institutional projects, write and edit mechanical specifications, utilize engineering software, prepare construction documents, supervise work of Mechanical CAD Technicians, and perform other duties as needed.
Responsibilities
- Cook up mechanical aspects of commercial or institutional projects
- Handle routine mechanical engineering assignments using standard techniques and procedures
- Write and edit mechanical specifications, and pick mechanical systems and devices
- Employ engineering software to calculate HVAC loads, conduct energy analyses, and select mechanical equipment
- Create HVAC and plumbing designs for buildings, including drawings, specifications, and reports
- Operate independently on small projects or assist senior engineers on larger projects
- Watch over work of Mechanical CAD Technicians and coordinate design with architectural staff and other engineering disciplines
- Assist with construction contract administration through field inspections and conflict resolution
- Perform other tasks as directed
Requirements
- Master's degree in Architectural Engineering with Mechanical emphasis and Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate (candidates without EIT will be titled "Mechanical Designer" and expected to obtain EIT for career advancement)
- Preferred: Healthcare, Science and Technology, and Civic facilities experience; Sustainable design/LEED experience is desired but not required
- Preferably local candidates
- Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering with strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Trane TRACE or similar software, and equipment selection software)
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant in our employee-owned culture
