About the role

In the role of Mechanical Designer/EIT, we'll count on you to:

  • Cook up mechanical aspects of commercial or institutional projects
  • Handle routine mechanical engineering assignments that call for applying standard techniques and procedures
  • Write and polish mechanical specifications, and pick out mechanical systems and devices
  • Use engineering software to calculate HVAC loads, conduct energy analyses, and size or choose mechanical equipment
  • Put together construction documents for HVAC and plumbing design of buildings, including drawings, specifications, and reports
  • Help in developing, producing, and issuing BIM documentation, utilizing necessary Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software
  • Work solo on small projects, or assist more senior engineers on bigger ones
  • Watch over the work of Mechanical CAD Technicians, and coordinate design of assigned projects with architectural staff and other engineering disciplines
  • Take charge of construction contract administration, which involves reviewing shop drawings, handling request for information (RFI) reviews, conducting field inspections, and resolving conflicts
  • Do other duties as needed

Responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree in Architectural Engineering with a Mechanical emphasis and Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate. Candidates without an EIT will be titled "Mechanical Designer" and expected to obtain one for career advancement.
  • Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED, though not required
  • Healthcare, Science and Technology, or Civic facilities experience
  • Revit experience is required
  • Previous HVAC experience

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Trane TRACE or similar software, and equipment selection software)
