What You'll Do
- Apply engineering fundamentals and a broad set of mechanical engineering tools to solve technical problems and create novel detailed designs for a wide range of mechanical and process systems
- Combine technical skillsets with creative design solutions to push the envelope of standard mechanical engineering standards in the built environment
- Develop detailed specifications, sequence of operations, design packages for HVAC, plumbing and hydronic systems for permitting and construction
- Work with various design, construction, and facilities stakeholders to understand end-user needs and deliver results that meet the collective goal
- Able to prioritize and manage multiple projects to ensure high quality and productivity in fast-paced environment
- Work independently, apply first principles thinking to resolve design issues creatively and thoroughly coordinate design with other disciplines
- Perform capacity and risk analysis for large capital infrastructure
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
- 5-7 years of experience in HVAC or Process Systems design experience and familiarity with ASHRAE Handbooks / Standards, SMACNA Standards
- Fundamental understanding of mechanical systems including, not limited to; Dehumidification Units, Air Scrubbers, Dust Collectors, Heat Exchangers (shell/tube, plate/frame, brazed fin), Chillers, Cooling Towers, Pumps, Compressors, process gas/fluid systems, Air Handling Units, Terminal Units, VRF, Fans / Blowers, Pumps, Control Valves and Instrumentation, Heat Recovery Systems, Hazardous Exhaust, and Waste Water Treatment
- Professional design experience in a wide range of project types including industrial cooling tower systems, chiller plants, boiler plants, office, mission critical/data centers, restaurant, high tech/R&D, biotech/pharmaceutical and industrial
- Familiarity with International Codes Council (ICC), Suite of Codes (codes including Building, Mechanical, Plumbing, Energy Conservation, Fuel Gas, and Fire Codes) and California specific Title 24 codes
- Proficient with various computer programs such as HVAC load calculations (Carrier HAP, Trane Trace, and/or IES), Revit, Pipe-flo, Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Revit
- Willingness to travel to support infrastructure development in California and throughout North America (travel up to 20%)
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) preferred – preference for CA, CO, NV, TX or open to reciprocity
