Mechanical Engineer – Infrastructure

We're looking for an experienced, licensed mechanical engineer to take ownership of the mechanical infrastructure that supports our most demanding operations. This role offers real breadth and real ownership: you'll define company-wide standards for HVAC, plumbing, process utilities, and piping systems, and apply that expertise across the full capital project lifecycle—from early programming and scope development through field commissioning. You'll be the internal authority shaping how our facilities are designed and built, and the go-to expert that third-party engineers and contractors rely on for direction.

If you have experience with specialty exhaust systems, emissions abatement, or the nuanced interplay of ASHRAE, IMC, IPC, and NFPA requirements in a manufacturing or industrial setting, you'll find technically rich problems to solve here. Responsibilities

• Own the development and maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, process utilities, process piping, and other mechanical design and construction standards for the company.
• Participate in early programming and development of capital project scopes, focusing on mechanical systems.
• Support development and issuance of requests for proposals and qualifications for capital projects to third-party engineers, architects, design-build contractors, and general contractors.
• Review and comment on third-party mechanical designs for capital projects, providing owner-based subject matter specialist input and direction to internal and external teams.
• Provide internal design, system and equipment sizing, and design documentation for small capital projects as needed.
• Complete field visits during capital construction projects to represent the owner and observe general mechanical installation and commissioning activities.
• Manage design for small capital projects as needed.
• Travel up to 10% of the time for project-specific visits.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or greater in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering, or a related field.
• Licensed engineer (PE preferred).
• 5+ years of design, commissioning, and/or construction experience with HVAC, plumbing, industrial utility, and process piping systems for industrial and manufacturing projects.
• Experience with the design of industrial specialty exhaust systems and emissions abatement preferred.
• Strong knowledge of building and energy codes including IBC, IMC, IECC, IFC, IPC, ASHRAE, and NFPA, as well as associated industry standards and code-referenced technical guidelines.
• Proficient in developing design standards, technical project requirements documents, and requests for proposals.
• Experience completing third-party design reviews and directing engineering, production, and construction teams.
• Knowledge and experience using AutoCAD and/or Revit preferred.
• Demonstrated success developing innovative solutions to a broad range of mechanical engineering problems.
• Experience with the entire capital project lifecycle.
• Design management experience preferred.

• Ability to safely travel and visit active industrial sites and construction projects on an occasional basis.
