As a Mechanical Design Engineer I at Honeywell Aerospace, you will contribute to the design and development of innovative mechanical solutions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to support the creation of reliable and efficient mechanical components and systems that meet customer needs and industry standards. In this role, you will impact the successful delivery of mechanical designs by applying fundamental engineering principles, assisting in mechanical analysis, and supporting product development efforts to ensure quality and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform simulation and analysis of mechanical loads (static, fatigue, vibration, etc.) using Ansys Workbench
  • CAD modeling and drawing
  • Design engineering, sizing, and solutions
  • Interpret customer requirements
  • Conduct GD&T and tolerance studies
  • Use Python for root solving and systems of equations

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in technical disciplines such as the sciences, technology, engineering, or mathematics
  • 6 months of experience in mechanical design or related engineering roles

Skills

  • Co-op/internship experience (preferred)
  • Ability to convey subtle or complex messages clearly
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work with little supervision
  • Experience with CAD design tools (Siemens NX preferred, SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, Pro-E, or similar)
  • Experience with finite element analysis tools (ANSYS Workbench, Abaqus, Autodesk Simulation, CosmosWorks, or similar)
  • Experience with computer programming for engineering applications (Python, MATLAB, or similar)
  • Experience with artificial intelligence and machine learning (preferred)
  • Extra-curricular or leadership experience (preferred)
  • Experience with metal machining, fabrication, and/or welding (a plus)
  • Experience with assembly, repair, and/or inspection of mechanical systems (a plus)
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher (a plus)
