Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role

Design and develop small, disposable handheld medical devices using Powder Injection Molding (PIM) and sheet metal (SM) parts. Collaborate closely with engineering teams throughout the New Product Development (NPD) process, from initial concept through design completion. Build prototypes, assemble parts, and solve design-related challenges while engaging in creative problem-solving across multiple project phases.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize SolidWorks as the primary design tool (experience with Creo is a plus)
  • Create detailed drawings, assemblies, and parts with emphasis on plastic injection molded components and sheet metal parts
  • Apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) to ensure design accuracy
  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding design progress and status
  • Demonstrate electro-mechanical (E/M) aptitude, as devices are powered

Requirements

  • Ability to work onsite in Shelton, CT
  • Medical device design experience preferred
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, hands-on environment
