We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team, focusing on designing innovative products and managing mechanical projects from inception to completion.
Responsibilities
- Design applicable products using CAD (2D and 3D) systems and generate production drawings.
- Manage the mechanical portion of projects from start to finish.
- Foster customer relations by obtaining required information through on-site measure-ups and product-related discussions.
- Execute technical calculations to ensure safety and integrity of mechanical components.
- Prepare technical documentation and procedures; conduct product inspections and dimensional checks.
- Provide leadership and guidance to support the development of engineering staff.
- Collaborate with manufacturing personnel to design jigs and fixtures.
- Support revenue targets by assisting application teams, product, and project managers.
- Create communication documentation to convey design aspects to clients or manufacturing partners.
- Control and maintain release packages and design history files; participate in development projects and prototype design.
- Perform additional duties as identified by company leadership.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 2 years of experience.
- Full proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD systems.
- Advanced skills in performing technically challenging tasks without supervision.
- Proficiency in designing custom technical components for specific customer applications.
Work Environment
- This position requires 15-20% travel, with up to 30% expected in the first year to learn and visit customer sites.
- Travel is mostly during the working week and may include international travel, such as training in Austria.
- This is a 100% onsite position based in Chesapeake, VA.
Pay
The pay range for this position is $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year. Individual compensation offered within this range will depend on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
