Mechanical Design Engineer

Design and develop heavy-duty truck axle components and systems from concept through production release, supporting validation, testing, and continuous product improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Design and modify axle components and assemblies using Siemens NX (3D modeling and 2D drawings).
  • Create and maintain engineering drawings, BOMs, and design documentation within PLM/PDM systems.
  • Develop and maintain DVP&R documentation in collaboration with validation and test engineering teams.
  • Support prototype builds, testing, root cause analysis, and implementation of design improvements.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, purchasing, and global teams to deliver successful product designs.
  • Apply engineering methodologies including DFMEA, FEA, and DOE to support product performance and reliability.
  • Participate in technical reviews and represent the design team as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in heavy-duty truck axle design and development.
  • Proficiency with Siemens NX for 3D modeling and 2D drawing creation.
  • Experience with PLM/PDM systems and engineering change management.
  • Knowledge of DVP&R, DFMEA, and basic FEA principles.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work hands-on with physical components during prototype and testing activities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with axle systems, driveline components, differentials, or related vehicle systems.
  • Familiarity with prototype validation, durability testing, and root cause analysis.
  • Experience working in cross-functional and global engineering environments.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $42.00/hr.
