About the role
This Mechanical Design Engineer role focuses on developing innovative mechanical and electro-mechanical products from concept through production. You will create detailed 3D models and manufacturing-ready drawings, ensure designs meet structural, safety, and ergonomic requirements, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and suppliers. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to new product introduction (NPI) in a growing, innovation-focused environment while supporting low-to-mid volume, high-mix manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate on the design and development of new innovative products, enhancements, and technologies to meet market needs.
- Create detailed 3D models, large assemblies, and manufacturing-ready fabrication drawings using SolidWorks.
- Ensure that all designs meet structural, safety, and ergonomic requirements.
- Review design documentation for feasibility, manufacturability, and accuracy.
- Work with suppliers to coordinate prototype builds and ensure design expectations are clearly communicated and met.
- Collaborate closely with CNC fabrication, sheet metal bending, and assembly teams to optimize designs for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA).
- Support configurable or custom-engineered products through the full design lifecycle.
- Provide hands-on production support and participate in prototyping activities as needed.
- Check design files in and out, resolve version conflicts, and manage engineering data workflows within SolidWorks PDM.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure technical requirements, schedules, and project milestones are achieved.
- Provide technical assistance and guidance to colleagues and other departments as needed.
- Contribute to building and maintaining a positive, open culture that encourages cooperation, collaboration, and clear work instructions.
- Handle and prioritize multiple projects while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and urgency.
- Perform other engineering and design-related duties as assigned.
