About the role
Join a tight-knit team at Qnity, a global leader in materials and solutions for advanced electronics and high-tech industries. This Mechanical Design & Analysis Engineer role is a hybrid position requiring on-site work three days per week. You’ll collaborate with sales, manufacturing, and customers to develop innovative designs and solve complex engineering challenges in the rapidly evolving technology and connectivity landscape.
Responsibilities
- Work with internal and external engineers and/or customer service to develop customer-specific designs that balance technical excellence with manufacturability.
- Analyze designs using Abaqus CAE finite element analysis (FEA), Ansys Forming, or internally developed tools to evaluate effectiveness in customer applications.
- Create 3D models and 2D drawings of products using SolidWorks or CREO 3D CAD.
- Control and manage item data in the Aras database and lead new item release activities, ensuring designs meet manufacturing capabilities and customer performance needs.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for metals designs and manufacturability, supporting DFM assessments and DFMEA for operations.
- Report production release (NIP) and design metrics.
- Support production in troubleshooting manufacturing challenges or issues.
- Proactively engage customers, organize intercompany meetings, and maintain business relationships across commercial and technical functions.
Requirements
- Excellent time management skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with solid-modeling software (preferably CREO or SolidWorks) and/or multiphysics software such as Abaqus, HFSS, or COMSOL.
- Understanding of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) or Finite Difference numerical modeling techniques, with experience analyzing boundary value problems.
- Strong grasp of cross-functional relationships between intercompany groups and expertise required to take a product from development to production.
- Ability to act as an extension of OEM design teams from the system to component level.
- Extensive mechanical design experience and understanding of electronic system architecture at the block diagram level.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or a technical field.
- 5+ years of experience with precision metals, board-level shields, and EMI solutions.
- 8+ years of design experience.
- Experience or knowledge in manufacturing processes preferred.
