Job Responsibilities
- Aids mechanics and welders in the installation, maintenance, diagnosis, repair, and testing of pumps, motors, gearboxes, valves, piping, actuators, air compressors, and generators.
- Aids mechanics and welders in performing tasks such as greasing equipment, assembling and disassembling parts, sandblasting, grinding, and cutting.
- Supports mechanics and welders in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving complex machinery, piping, and equipment issues.
- Applies principles and practices of ASME, OSHA, AWWA, and STLE, and demonstrates technical aptitude with mechanical systems and components.
- Performs preventive and predictive maintenance, maintains tools, parts, equipment, and materials, and manages inventory for assigned projects.
- Performs basic mathematical calculations, reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, plans, and manufacturer's specifications.
- Operates industrial tools and machinery including lathes, mills, drill presses, band saws, welders, torches, plasma cutters, forklifts, sky tracks, scissor lifts, and various power tools.
- Adheres to safety procedures and protocols in all work environments, attends required trainings, and maintains a clean and organized work area.
- Improves skill levels through continuous effort, establishes and maintains effective working relationships, and performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- TCEQ Water/Wastewater license preferred.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Ability to comprehend, carry out, and administer written and oral instructions.
- Knowledge of basic mechanical principles and concepts.
- Normal visual color discrimination.
- Strong willingness to learn and develop skills in the industrial mechanical trade.
- Effective teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Physical ability to lift, climb, and work in confined spaces.
- Willingness to work overtime and call outs as needed.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Positive attendance record and ability to work flexible hours.
- Compliance with personal protective equipment requirements.
