About the role
B&G Foods is seeking an experienced mechanic for its Packing Department in the Cincinnati Crisco Oils & Shortening manufacturing facility.
Responsibilities
- Operate, maintain and repair all plant equipment and facilities to achieve high customer satisfaction
- Generate and complete work orders to ensure materials are available from the parts room
- Initiate work requests when immediate performance of maintenance is not possible
- Communicate and work with other operators, line leaders, and the technical leader on maintenance issues
- Perform preventative maintenance and inspection functions and take the initiative to modify and update these programs as needed
- Participate in training to improve and maintain technical skills, teamwork, creativity, and communication skills
- Participate in root cause failure analysis with team members and maintenance leaders for major downtime
- Actively participate in team and plant meetings and activities
- Follow all safety, housekeeping, and regulatory agency requirements
- Accurately troubleshoot, perform preventative maintenance, coach, and teach, and repair to original specifications of processing, packaging, and facility equipment
- Read and understand technical documentation including electrical and mechanical drawings
- Safely operate maintenance shop tools
- Perform the necessary physical activity for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting equipment including: climbing stairs and ladders, standing on, and moving around on platforms, equipment and concrete floors, working at elevated levels, lifting objects up to 75 pounds using proper lifting techniques, standing and walking at minimum 70% of the time
Qualifications
- High School Diploma plus two years of technical training preferred
- 2-5 years maintenance experience preferred
- Excellent technical and troubleshooting skills and knowledge of all crafts, including mechanical, electrical, and technical
- Machinist skills a plus
- Leadership skills including: conflict resolution and problem solving (analytical troubleshooting processes), communication (effective listening, giving and receiving feedback), organization and time management, goal and priority setting, continuous improvement, safety mindset, ability to interact cross-functionally and work in a team environment, strong computer skills
