Mechanic Helper
We are seeking a Mechanic Helper to join our team in Buffalo, NY. Our mission in Underground Electric Field Operations is to provide electric service safely and efficiently to all National Grid electric customers. The Underground Electric department is responsible for installing and maintaining National Grid’s underground electric assets.
About the role
Under direct supervision, you will assist mechanics of higher grade and perform simpler types of manual work. As your proficiency increases and your training continues, you will have the opportunity to progress through the Mechanic series (Helper→A→B→C). After six months of satisfactory performance as a Mechanic Helper, you will progress to Mechanic A.
Responsibilities
- Assist mechanics of higher grade in installing and maintaining underground electric assets.
- Perform simpler manual tasks under direct supervision.
Requirements
- Must be mechanically inclined and capable of performing strenuous work.
- Valid driver’s license with a safe driving history that meets National Grid’s Safe Driver policy.
- Must pass a physical abilities evaluation.
- Must pass a validated aptitude test.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to obtain a CDL A within 6 months (holding a CDL A currently is preferred).
- Must have the ability to work without a need for current or future visa sponsorship.

Pay
$33.56 per hour.
