Job Summary

CITGO Petroleum Corporation is seeking a Mechanic's Helper at its Cicero, Illinois facility within the Maintenance Department. This role supports Mechanics while receiving hands-on training and is designed for candidates with prior experience to progress to the Mechanic classification.

Starting Rate

The starting rate for this position is $37.75 per hour. Upon successful completion of required training and qualifications over a two-year period, employees are promoted to Mechanic with a rate of $45.52 per hour.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma with 5-7 years of maintenance experience in an industrial setting, OR a Technical Degree with at least 2 years of maintenance experience in an industrial setting.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Must be available to work overtime, including weekends and holidays, as required.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at elevated heights.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in enclosed spaces (e.g., tanks, vessels).
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow directions, diagrams, and blueprints.
  • Must successfully complete background screening and medical examinations.
  • Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) through the TWIC® | Transportation Security Administration.

Job Duties

  • Assist Mechanics with the repair and maintenance of pumps, meters, transfer lines, and packaging equipment to minimize downtime and support efficient operations.
  • Support electrical troubleshooting and repairs on plant equipment as needed.
  • Operate and monitor the water treatment plant in accordance with established procedures.
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on plant equipment to ensure reliability and reduce unplanned outages.
  • Maintain facility buildings and grounds to support a safe and well-functioning work environment.
