Mechanic/Heavy Duty Vehicle Technician

About the role

The Mechanic/Heavy Duty Vehicle Technician will diagnose and repair diesel engines, powertrain components, air brakes, steering and suspension systems, electrical systems, and diesel emission systems.

Responsibilities

• Use scan tool and laptop technology
• Follow instructions from shift leader
• Work independently or with a team
• Perform routine truck inspections and maintenance of fleet equipment, including trailers
• Maintain an effective and clean work environment
• Provide own tools or obtain tools to complete all job functions
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• 2 years technical instruction in diesel or auto mechanics is preferred
• Must hold a valid CDL Class A driver’s license OR be willing to complete Company-paid CDL training program
• Welding and torch experience is a plus but not required
• Ability to operate a manual transmission vehicle or willingness to learn

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
• Must pass a DOT physical exam
• Must be able to spend a minimum of eight hours on feet
• Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, walk, and drive
• Work environment involves exposure to hazards such as diesel exhaust, brake dust, grease, antifreeze, and other elements associated with vehicle repair

Pay

$20.00–$33.00 per hour, based on experience. Paid overtime at time and a half after 40 hours per week. $10,000 sign-on bonus for full-time positions.

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM start.
