Ryder is hiring a Mid-Level Diesel Technician in Tampa, Florida — providing a stable company for your career with weekly pay and excellent benefits.
Pay
Hourly Pay: $27.50 per hour
- Certification Bonus of $100 for each New ASE Certification Obtained up to $700
- Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter (four times per year)

Schedule
Tuesday - Saturday, Second Shift
- Tuesday - Thursday: 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm
- Friday: 12:00 pm - 8:30 pm
- Saturday: 6:30 am - 3:00 pm

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Vocational or Technical Certification, or Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications preferred
- Basic tools required
- Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including:
- Routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
- Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience in required experience preferred
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A preferred
- Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
Responsibilities
- Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties
- Performs standard vehicle maintenance, component inspections, and repairs
- Performs preventive maintenance
- Diagnoses standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable
- Identifies root cause of basic failures/conditions and performs repairs as required
- Replaces defective components as instructed
- Performs facility maintenance duties
- Interacts with customers/drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
- Utilizes key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation
- Works in accordance with all federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (e.g., safety, DOT, MOT)
- Performs other support duties as required to support operations, including Service Island support
Qualifications
- Must pass a Ryder Drug Test
- Must pass a DOT physical
- Must pass a Ryder road test
- Must pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
- Some positions require additional screening, such as employment and education verification, motor vehicle records check, and/or badging or background requirements of the customer
