    • About the Role

    At Newport News Shipbuilding, we are seeking an Outside Machinist to join our team. This position is responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the operation and maintenance of machinery and equipment used in the production process.

    Responsibilities

    Operate and maintain various types of machinery and equipment to support production processes.

    Perform routine maintenance and repairs on machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance and prevent downtime.

    Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to understand job requirements and specifications.

    Follow safety procedures and regulations to ensure a safe work environment.

    Identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues, and implement corrective actions as needed.

    Requirements

    High school diploma or equivalent.

    Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

    Physical ability to perform the essential functions of the job, including lifting up to 50 pounds.

    Ability to work overtime and weekends as necessary.

    Qualifications

    At least 2 years of experience in a similar role.

    Experience with operating and maintaining machinery and equipment.

    Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

    Skills

    Proficiency in operating and maintaining various types of machinery and equipment.

    Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

    Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
