MDS DIRECTOR | LONG TERM CARE - NURSING ADMINISTRATION | FULL-TIME DAY SHIFT (22545)

Responsibilities

• Monitor Facility Quality Measures and analyze clinical data metrics to identify areas for improvement.
• Ensure all MDS assessments are completed accurately, timely, and in full compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Open MDS assessments, fill in resident's name, assessment reference date, and reason for the assessment.
• Review all validation reports from the State Department of Health and correct errors as necessary.
• Transmit MDS data to State DOH after ensuring assessments are edited and locked.
• Provide the billing department with information regarding resource utilization groups for Medicare patients.
• Educate staff regarding MDS, Quality Indicators, and Prospective Payment System.
• Assure regulatory compliance with MDS assessments.
• Ensure MDS Encoders follow policy and procedure and enter data timely and accurately.
• Write or revise policies and procedures for the department.
• Provide in-service training regarding the MDS to Nurse Managers, RNs, LPNs, and other clinical staff (social service, recreation therapy, and dietitians).
• Report monthly progress to the Director of Nursing (DON) and supervise the MDS process for care plan compliance.
• Maintain customer service standards: respect, flexibility, knowledge, confidence, professionalism, pleasant attitude, patience, and helpfulness.
• Ensure all responses are timely, professional, caring, and respectful in accordance with Customer Service Performance expectations.
• Maintain established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
• Assess gaps in policies and procedures and create necessary updates to fulfill these gaps.
• Understand and adhere to the Medical Center’s Code of Conduct.
• Familiarize with the Medical Center’s Mission, Vision, and Values Statements.
• Maintain connection with the DOH's MDS automation coordinator.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall objectives of the department and organization.

Requirements

• Five years or more as an MDS Coordinator.
• Meets regulatory requirements for MDS Prospective Payment System.
• Deep understanding of PDPM reimbursement model and CMS guidelines.
• Computer literate.
• Good written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Speaks, reads, and writes English to the extent required by the position.
• Prior management or supervisory experience preferred.

Qualifications

• BSN Required; Master's degree preferred.
• MDS and PPS training required.
• RAC-CT is highly preferred.
• Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey.

Job Setting/Physical Demands

• Long Term Care department and related areas; contact with patients, visitors, and staff.
• Frequent prolonged standing, sitting, and walking.

Pay

$110,000 to $120,000 annually
