Mathematics Researcher (Masters/PhDs)

About the role

We're seeking Mathematics Researchers with advanced degrees to contribute to training and evaluating cutting-edge AI models. Your expertise will be used to design rigorous problems, test mathematical reasoning, and ensure that AI models can reason with precision and depth.

Responsibilities

• Develop, solve, and review advanced mathematical problems with real-world relevance and genuine depth
• Apply your expertise in algebra, calculus, statistics, discrete mathematics, or related areas to design complex, meaningful problem statements
• Evaluate AI-generated mathematical reasoning for correctness, rigor, and clarity
• Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and domain experts to push the boundaries of AI model reasoning
• Ensure mathematical precision and intellectual integrity across all deliverables
• Work independently on task-based assignments — entirely on your own schedule

Requirements

• Hold a Master's or PhD in Mathematics or a closely related field
• Deeply skilled in one or more of: algebra, calculus, statistics, or discrete mathematics
• Experienced with Python, MATLAB, or Mathematica for research or technical projects
• Exceptionally precise in written communication — you explain complex ideas with clarity and confidence
• Naturally detail-oriented with high standards for mathematical accuracy
• Fluent in English and based in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia, or New Zealand

Qualifications

• Nice to have: prior experience with data annotation, data quality, or evaluation systems, background in academic research, technical writing, or peer review, familiarity with AI tools or machine learning concepts, experience communicating advanced mathematics to non-specialist audiences
