The Math Tutor at Fusion Charter School in Turlock, CA, will provide instruction and tutoring to at-risk students, reinforcing math skills and building student confidence.
Position Summary
The Math Tutor provides math instruction and tutoring aligned with classroom lesson plans and curriculum. They support student learning outcomes by reinforcing math concepts and practical applications. This role also emphasizes restorative practices, social-emotional learning, and collaboration with teachers and administrators to ensure student success.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide math instruction and tutoring aligned with classroom lesson plans and curriculum.
- Support student learning outcomes by reinforcing math concepts and practical applications.
- Work with small groups while providing one-on-one support as needed.
- Encourage student progress and share observations with teachers.
- Participate in talking circles and restorative justice activities with students and staff.
- Provide opportunities for social-emotional learning and life skills development.
- Document student incidents and notify teachers/administrators as required.
- Maintain accurate schedules and records using Google Calendar.
- Participate in trainings including CPR, safety, and mental health awareness.
- Maintain confidentiality and neutrality in all interactions.
Credentials & Experience
- Valid Substitute Teaching Credential, Single Subject or Multiple Subjects Credential, OR BA/BS in any field with strong math proficiency.
- Emergent Substitute Teaching Permit candidates considered (preference for math majors in their final year of study).
- Experience working or volunteering with at-risk youth.
Skills & Abilities
- Proficient in Google Workspace, Zoom/Google Meet, and Calendar.
Qualifications
- Meets all state-required conditions of employment: fingerprint and Child Abuse Index clearance, TB/health physical, valid California driver’s license, and clean driving record.
Work Environment & Schedule
This position requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, and work on a computer for up to 20 hours per week. Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs, operate office equipment, and safely handle materials.
