About the role

As a Texas Certified Teacher on the Varsity Tutors Live Learning Platform, you'll bring your classroom expertise to a flexible, remote tutoring environment—setting your own schedule, earning competitive rates, and making a real impact on students' lives, all from the comfort of your home.

Responsibilities

• Provide personalized instruction to individual students through 1‑on‑1 online tutoring.
• Accept on‑demand tutoring requests whenever you're available (Instant Tutoring).

Requirements

• Active Texas Teaching Certificate (required) – must hold a current, active certificate issued by the Texas Education Agency (TEA); certificate number will be verified during application.
• Deep subject‑matter expertise in your certified area(s), with ability to connect K‑12 curriculum concepts to student needs across grade levels and learning goals.
• Demonstrated classroom teaching experience in a Texas setting, with strong understanding of TEKS standards and how to apply them in one‑on‑one instruction.
• Skilled at diagnosing student gaps, adjusting pacing and approach, and explaining concepts through multiple methods to meet each student where they are.
• Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to individual learning needs and styles.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
• Varsity Tutors does not contract with tutors residing in Alaska, California, Colorado, Delaware, Hawaii, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia, or Puerto Rico.

Pay

Earn incrementally higher pay for each session with the same student, reaching up to $40/hour. Get paid up to twice per week for tutoring sessions you conduct and invoice.
