As a Texas Certified Teacher on the platform, you’ll bring your classroom expertise to a flexible, remote tutoring environment—setting your own schedule, earning competitive rates, and making a real impact on students’ lives, all from the comfort of your home. Varsity Tutors’ mission is to transform learning through advanced technology, AI, and learning science to create personalized experiences that help students achieve their goals.

Responsibilities

• Provide personalized 1‑on‑1 online tutoring to individual students.
• Accept on‑demand instant tutoring requests whenever you’re available.

Requirements

• Active Texas Teaching Certificate (required) – must hold a current, active certificate issued by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). You will be asked to provide your certificate number for verification.
• Subject matter expertise: deep knowledge in your certified subject area(s), with the ability to connect K‑12 curriculum concepts to student needs across grade levels and learning goals.
• Classroom teaching experience: demonstrated experience in a Texas classroom setting, strong understanding of TEKS standards and how to apply them in one‑on‑one instruction.
• Conceptual teaching & adaptive instruction: skilled at diagnosing student gaps, adjusting pacing and approach, and explaining concepts through multiple methods to meet each student where they are.
• Effective teaching methods: ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to individual learning needs and styles.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
• Eligibility: Varsity Tutors does not contract tutors residing in Alaska, California, Colorado, Delaware, Hawaii, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia, or Puerto Rico.

Pay

Earn incrementally higher pay for each session with the same student, reaching up to $40/hour.
