As a Texas Certified Teacher on the Varsity Tutors Platform, you'll bring your classroom expertise to a flexible, remote tutoring environment—setting your own schedule, earning competitive rates, and making a real impact on students' lives. All from the comfort of your home.

Responsibilities

• Provide personalized 1-on-1 online tutoring to individual students.
• Accept on-demand instant tutoring requests whenever you're available.

Requirements

• Active Texas Teaching Certificate (required) – must hold a current, active certificate issued by the Texas Education Agency (TEA).
• Subject matter expertise – deep knowledge in your certified subject area(s) with the ability to connect K‑12 curriculum concepts to student needs across grade levels and learning goals.
• Classroom teaching experience – demonstrated experience in a Texas classroom setting, with a strong understanding of TEKS standards and how to apply them in one‑on‑one instruction.
• Conceptual teaching & adaptive instruction – skilled at diagnosing student gaps, adjusting pacing and approach, and explaining concepts through multiple methods to meet each student where they are.
• Effective teaching methods – ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to individual learning needs and styles.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.

Pay

Earn up to $40/hour, with pay increasing incrementally for repeat sessions with the same student. Payments are issued up to twice per week.
