As a Texas Certified Teacher on the Varsity Tutors Platform, you'll bring your classroom expertise to a flexible, remote tutoring environment—setting your own schedule, earning competitive rates, and making a real impact on students' lives. All from the comfort of your home.

Responsibilities

• Provide personalized 1‑on‑1 online tutoring to individual students.
• Accept on‑demand instant tutoring requests when you are available.

Requirements

• Active Texas Teaching Certificate (required) – must hold a current certificate issued by the Texas Education Agency (TEA); certificate number will be verified.
• Subject matter expertise in your certified area(s), with ability to connect K‑12 curriculum concepts to student needs across grade levels and learning goals.
• Demonstrated classroom teaching experience in a Texas setting, with strong understanding of TEKS standards and how to apply them in one‑on‑one instruction.
• Skilled at conceptual teaching and adaptive instruction: diagnosing student gaps, adjusting pacing and approach, explaining concepts through multiple methods.
• Ability to identify commonly struggled concepts, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to individual learning needs and styles.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
• Must be located in a state where Varsity Tutors contracts (the platform does not operate in AK, CA, CO, DE, HI, ME, NH, NJ, ND, VT, WV, or PR).

Pay

Earn up to $40/hour, with incremental increases for repeat sessions with the same student. Payments are issued up to twice per week.
