The Varsity Tutors Live Learning Platform has thousands of students looking for online tutors nationally. As a Texas Certified Teacher on the Varsity Tutors Platform, you'll bring your classroom expertise to a flexible, remote tutoring environment—setting your own schedule, earning competitive rates, and making a real impact on students' lives. All from the comfort of your home.

Responsibilities

• Provide personalized instruction to individual students via 1-on-1 online tutoring.
• Accept on-demand tutoring requests whenever you're available (Instant Tutoring).

Requirements

• Active Texas Teaching Certificate (required) – must hold a current, active teaching certificate issued by the Texas Education Agency (TEA).
• Subject Matter Expertise: deep knowledge in your certified subject area(s), with the ability to connect K-12 curriculum concepts to student needs across grade levels and learning goals.
• Classroom Teaching Experience: demonstrated experience in a Texas classroom setting, with a strong understanding of TEKS standards and how to apply them in one-on-one instruction.

Note: Varsity Tutors does not contract tutors in AK, CA, CO, DE, HI, ME, NH, NJ, ND, VT, WV, or PR.

Skills

• Conceptual Teaching & Adaptive Instruction: skilled at diagnosing student gaps, adjusting pacing and approach, and explaining concepts through multiple methods to meet each student where they are.
• Effective Teaching Methods: ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.

Pay

Earn incrementally higher pay for each session with the same student, reaching up to $40/hour. Get paid up to twice per week, ensuring fast and reliable compensation for the tutoring sessions you conduct and invoice.
