Maternal Fetal Medicine Physician

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive care for high-risk obstetric patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings
  • Perform and interpret advanced obstetric ultrasounds, including fetal anatomy scans and growth assessments
  • Offer consultations and co-management with OB/GYN providers, midwives, and hospitalists
  • Participate in delivery planning and coordinate care for complex pregnancies
  • Collaborate with neonatology, pediatrics, and other specialty services to ensure continuity of care
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and clinical protocols
  • Support education and mentorship of residents, medical students, and clinical staff (if applicable)
  • Medical supervision and direction of all care rendered, and development of treatment protocols, as necessary
  • Aid in meeting all accreditation and legal requirements and regulations of the hospital (JCAHO, City, State & Federal)
  • Collaborate closely with the Physician Practice Management Director and other management and clinical staff for smooth and successful operation of the practice
  • Maintain a good working relationship with consulting, referring, and attending physicians and other health professionals
  • Participate in committee activities required of hospital Medical Staff members
  • Adhere to the Standards of Medical Practice and/or develop quality assurance indicators for the practice
  • Maintain complete and accurate record-keeping of all patient care related activities
  • Responsible for fire and safety, handling hazardous materials (if applicable), and infection control
  • Consistently demonstrates the ability to assess a situation, consider alternatives, and choose an appropriate course of action
  • Utilizes initiative and independent judgement in evaluating the assessment, implementation, and evaluation of patients
  • Helps assess the medical and nursing care rendered by self and others within the practice, identifying areas for improvement
  • Uses appropriate internal and external resources to resolve, meet, or exceed patient and family health care needs
  • Actively involved in making recommendations for improving the medical practice, including equipment, staffing requirements, space requirements, utilization review, quality assurance, marketing, etc.
  • Demonstrates competency and accuracy in all work tasks, including those directly and indirectly related to patient care
  • Performs 12 organizational Service Standards focused on Values, Service, and Quality

Qualifications

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Maternal-Fetal Medicine
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine
  • Eligible for medical licensure in Louisiana
  • Strong clinical skills with a patient-centered approach
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
