Position Summary

The Materials Management Technician is responsible for the shipping and receiving functions of the hospital, overseeing the handling of freight into the receiving area. They coordinate and maintain a complete file of Purchase Orders, Bill of Lading Slips, and Outbound Shipping Receipts. The role involves dispensing to departments and/or patients, maintaining inventory, stocking shelves, and assisting with inventory counts.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of shipping and receiving experience
  • PREFERRED: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Two (2) years of healthcare materials management experience

Essential Job Functions

  • Inspects freight for damage and discrepancies on packing slips
  • Ensures equipment delivered matches packing slip for receiving
  • Dispenses freight to appropriate department
  • Responsible for packaging all outgoing shipments and documenting accurately
  • Maintains files of packing slips, purchase orders, bill of lading slips, and outbound shipping receipts
  • Processes and coordinates receipts and discrepancies with Purchasing, Accounts Payable, and Distribution
  • Exercises sound judgment, patience, and maintains a professional demeanor at all times
  • Exercises tact, discretion, sensitivity, and maintains confidentiality
  • Performs essential job functions successfully in a busy and stressful environment
  • Learns current and new computer applications and office equipment utilized at Bozeman Health
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Analyzes, organizes, and prioritizes work while meeting multiple deadlines
