About the role
This position is based onsite at our 515 building at Research Park in Salt Lake City, UT. bioMérieux is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Materials Handler II to support warehousing, inventory management, receiving, shipping, and material replenishment activities within our Manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, quantify, and store incoming materials from various delivery sources.
- Verify incoming shipments for accuracy and ensure materials meet quality standards.
- Perform material movements using warehouse equipment and material handling systems.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and warehouse locations.
- Perform bin maintenance and organize warehouse shelving and storage locations.
- Execute daily material replenishment activities to support manufacturing operations using a Just-in-Time (JIT) approach.
- Ensure timely availability of materials for internal customers and production teams.
- Break down, clean, organize, and prepare raw materials in accordance with procedures and production schedules for Reagent teams.
- Accurately perform real-time inventory transactions using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
- Track, label, log, and document material lot information with a high degree of accuracy.
- Process deliveries and material transactions supporting departmental activities.
- Maintain complete and accurate documentation of inventory and material movements.
- Assist in receiving, picking, packing, labeling, and shipping activities.
- Ensure customer and internal orders are prepared accurately and according to established quality standards.
- Support warehouse distribution operations while following all safety guidelines and procedures.
- Perform all work in accordance with cGMP, FDA, ISO, OSHA, and company quality requirements.
- Identify and appropriately manage non-conforming materials.
- Troubleshoot operational issues and resolve routine warehouse challenges.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and identify opportunities for enhanced efficiency.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment using Lean Manufacturing and 6S principles.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Minimum of one (1) year of warehouse, shipping, receiving, or related materials handling experience.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred
- Materials handling experience within the medical device, pharmaceutical, or regulated manufacturing industry.
- Experience working within FDA-regulated environments.
- Forklift certification.
- Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Strong commitment to safety, quality, and compliance. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to build positive working relationships across teams. Strong attention to detail and inventory accuracy. Ability to prioritize tasks and maintain productivity in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Ability to stand or remain stationary for extended periods.
- Ability to walk, bend, climb, reach, and perform repetitive motions throughout the workday.
- Ability to ascend and descend stairs, ladders, and ramps.
- Ability to wear required PPE for the majority of the shift.
- Ability to operate warehouse and material handling equipment.
- Ability to lift, move, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in varying warehouse temperature conditions.
- Overtime may be required based on business needs.
Pay
The wage for this role based in Utah is $19.00 an hour.
Schedule
Shift: Monday–Friday, 5:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with every other Friday off.
