This role is responsible for safely facilitating the movement of finished and unfinished material through the manufacturing and production process.
Responsibilities
- Reviews work orders or follows verbal instructions to move pallets and containers from machines.
- Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand.
- Moves material from storage or work sites to designated areas.
- Ensures that operators have all the raw materials to operate their equipment.
- Stacks and assembles materials into bundles.
- Bands bundles.
- Removes empty pallets from equipment.
- Performs duties of Shipper/Receiver as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Environment
- Typically located in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors that may cause noticeable discomfort or a moderate risk of accident or illness, such as temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noises, and fumes.
- Requires intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting, and maneuvering material or equipment that may be heavy (50+ pounds) or awkward.
Requirements
- HS Diploma or GED strongly preferred.
- Specialized skills training/certification may be required.
- Generally, 2-5 years of experience in area of responsibility.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified forklift operator with experience safely moving materials in a manufacturing, production, or warehouse environment.
- Experience supplying raw materials, components, or finished goods to support continuous production operations.
- Ability to read work orders, identify material requirements, and accurately stage materials for production teams.
- Strong attention to detail when handling inventory, tracking material movement, and maintaining accurate counts.
- Familiarity with shipping, receiving, inventory control, or warehouse management processes.
- Commitment to workplace safety and the ability to work around moving equipment, machinery, and production lines.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while performing physical tasks including lifting, stacking, and material handling.
