About the Role

The F-16A/B/C or D Aircraft Mechanic Egress (AME) performs organizational, intermediate, and limited depot-level maintenance, including inspection, operational test, repair, modification, and troubleshooting on assigned aircraft, components, and equipment. Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems and provides technical assistance, guidance, and instruction to other employees as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains assigned aircraft in accordance with Navy, Air Force manufacturer, and company distributors.
  • Performs all egress system on- and off-equipment maintenance on F-16A/B/C or D models.
  • Removes, transports, inspects, repairs, and reinstalls F-16A/B/C or D ejection seats.
  • Inspects, repairs, and cleans seat harnesses.
  • Inventories, stores, removes, and replaces seat CAD/PAD explosive items.
  • Maintains environmental systems on F-16A/B/C or D models.
  • Inspects and repairs canopy explosive devices on F-16A/B/C or D.
  • Maintains and inspects On-Board Oxygen Generating System (OBOGS) or Liquid Oxygen (LOX).
  • Performs aircraft scheduled and unscheduled on- and off-equipment maintenance.
  • Conducts aircraft corrosion control procedures, including wash, wipe down, polish, and vacuum.
  • Operates Ground Support Equipment (GSE), flight line vehicles, and other support equipment as required.
  • Drives tugs for towing equipment and aircraft.
  • Annotates maintenance actions in aircraft forms and VIDS/MAF System.
  • Orders aircraft/equipment parts.
  • Supervises/assists in aircraft/equipment movement and flight line foreign object prevention walks.
  • Practices good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness/prevention, and safety at all times.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum two (2) years’ recent experience in ejection seat maintenance and two (2) years’ recent egress system repair experience.
  • F-16A/B/C or D aircraft maintenance experience.
  • Graduate of the Air Force F-16A/B/C or D Aircrew Egress System Specialist Technical School T/M/S or factory equivalent ejection seat course of instruction.
  • Qualified on ground support equipment applicable to the specialty.
  • Familiar with Navy technical publications.
  • Capable of conducting on-the-job training and maintaining Contractor personnel seat/cockpit safety checkout training records.
  • Experienced and qualified in the removal and replacement of ejection seats, canopies, and explosive devices at both “I” and “O” levels.
  • Valid State Driver’s License.
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable maintenance/technical manuals, publications, instructions, and special tools and test equipment.
  • Previous Military must provide Member 4 DD214 with Honorable Discharge.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government Clearance.
  • Able to work all assigned shifts and schedules.

  • Hazardous Waste Communication Training.
  • FOD and TCP Awareness Training.
  • Security Clearance Awareness Training.
  • COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 Program Awareness.
  • ISO 9001-2000 Program Awareness.
  • NALCOMIS/OOMA or Air Force Aircraft Maintenance Management system experience.
  • ESD Training.
  • Support Equipment Operator’s License (Tow Tractor, N2 Servicing Trailer, and Mobile Start Unit at a minimum).
  • Collateral Duty Inspector (in 2 T/M/S aircraft).
  • Egress System Checkout.
  • Non-Nuclear Ordnance Explosive Handling Certified.
  • Plane Captain Qualified.
  • Aircraft Towing Certified.
  • Aircraft Brake Rider Certified.
  • Operational Risk Management (ORM) Training.
  • Fuel Surveillance Training.
  • Engine Run (1 T/M/S minimum).
  • Troubleshooter/Final Checker Certified.

Work Environment

This role is typically performed in a hangar, shop, or flight line environment, requiring physical movements and postures associated with these activities. May be required to work in areas with high noise hazards, exposure to fumes, airborne particles, or electrical shock hazards. Work conditions may range from comfortable environments to exposure to inclement weather, including severe temperature changes, wind, rain, snow, or ice. May be required to lift objects up to 70 pounds. Special vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus. May require off-site service on assigned detachments.

Pay

Hiring hourly rate of pay: $54.47 (hourly rate set by CBA).
