Amentum is seeking an Aircraft Mechanic-Avionics to perform organizational, intermediate, and limited depot-level maintenance, including inspection, operational test, repair, modification, and troubleshooting on assigned aircraft, components, and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Apply advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems and provide technical assistance, guidance, and instruction to other employees.
  • Perform testing and troubleshooting of weapons systems, complex avionics/electrical systems and subsystems, communication/navigation, electronic flight control, fuel, power generators, power distribution systems, lighting systems, flight instrument and fuel systems, temperature and pressure indicating, engine and control indications, ATFLIR, Electronic Counter Measure, and RADAR systems.
  • Provide technical assistance and communication during aircrew de-brief.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical directives, planning documents, test specifications, technical publications, procedures, and applicable safety manuals.
  • Perform corrosion detection, treatment, and prevention.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, hydraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems to ensure aircraft remains in safe operating conditions.
  • Work in diverse environments including hangar, shop, flight line, and off-site detachments.

Requirements

  • Minimum three years’ experience in aircraft maintenance.
  • Experience in corrosion detection, treatment, and prevention.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior military personnel must present a member 4 DD214 with an Honorable character of service discharge.
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain any company/government required qualifications, certifications, licensing, or clearance.
  • Must be able to work all assigned shifts and schedules.
  • Must have a valid state driver's license.
  • Special vision abilities: close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.
  • May be required to lift objects up to 70 pounds.
  • May be exposed to inclement weather, high noise hazards, fumes, airborne particles, and electrical shock hazards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Recent experience with F-18A-F, EA-18G, E-2C, or F-16 aircraft.
  • High degree of expertise in aircraft systems, avionics theory, and applications.
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable maintenance/technical manuals, publications, instructions, and special tools and test equipment.
  • Familiarity with operational capabilities and limitations of aircraft systems.
  • Thorough working knowledge of corrosion detection, prevention, and treatment.
  • Working knowledge of aircraft sub-systems, including maintenance parameters, systems operations, limitations, and technical orders.
  • Customer-oriented mindset.

Licensing & Certification Requirements

  • Formal/Specialized Training or equivalent.
  • Hazardous Waste Communication Training.
  • FOD and TCP Awareness Training.
  • Security Clearance Awareness Training.
  • COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 Program Awareness.
  • NALCOMIS/OOMA Training (preferred).
  • ESD Training.
  • Support Equipment Operator’s License (Tow Tractor, N2 Servicing Trailer, and Mobile Start Unit at a minimum).
  • Collateral Duty Inspector (in 2 T/M/S aircraft).
  • Egress System Checkout.
  • Plane Captain Qualified (preferred).
  • Aircraft Towing Certified (preferred).
  • Aircraft Brake Rider Certified.
  • Operational Risk Management (ORM) Training.
  • Fuel Surveillance Training (preferred).

Pay

Hourly rate of pay: $54.47 (set by Collective Bargaining Agreement).
