Aircraft Mechanic-Aviation Life Support Services (PR) performs organizational, intermediate, and limited depot-level maintenance, including inspection, operational test, repair, modification, and troubleshooting on assigned aircraft, components, and equipment. Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems and provides technical assistance, guidance, and instruction to other employees as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret IETMS, Maintenance Instruction Manuals, and Company directives to perform maintenance.
  • Install and remove cartridge actuated devices and propulsion actuated devices.
  • Pack, unpack, preserve, and maintain parachutes and seat survival kits.
  • Repair, fit, maintain, and preserve pilots’ personal equipment.
  • Issue and receive aircrew survival equipment; initiate and update checkout/return records.
  • Assemble, place in service, and perform calendar inspections on oxygen mask assemblies, survival vests, helmets, and related safety/survival equipment.
  • Perform aircraft conditional and special inspections of installed safety/survival equipment.
  • Identify and treat corrosion.
  • Brief and debrief aircrew on the use and condition of survival equipment.
  • Maintain foreign object damage (FOD), hazardous waste, and tool control programs.

Requirements

  • Qualified PR “A” School graduate or Air Force school graduate IAW COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 Series.
  • Minimum of three years within the last five years of practical experience at the organizational or intermediate level.
  • Experience in corrosion detection, treatment, and prevention.
  • Qualified according to field of expertise and level of maintenance assigned.
  • Recent experience with F-18A-F, EA-18G, E-2C, MH-60S, or F-16A/B aircraft.
  • High degree of expertise in aircraft systems and in-depth knowledge of applicable maintenance/technical manuals, publications, instructions, and special tools/test equipment.
  • Familiarity with operational capabilities and limitations of aircraft systems.
  • Previous military must provide member 4 DD214 with Honorable Discharge.
  • Must be customer-oriented.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Secret Government Clearance (US Citizenship required).
  • Possess a valid State Driver’s license.
  • High School diploma.

  • OOMA/NALCOMIS Training.
  • ESD Training.
  • Support Equipment Operator’s License.
  • Collateral Duty Inspector (as directed).
  • Egress System Checkout.
  • Non-Nuclear Ordnance Explosive Handling Certified.
  • Plane Captain Qualified.
  • Aircraft Towing Certified.
  • Aircraft Brake Rider Certified.
  • Operational Risk Management (ORM) Training.
  • Fuel Surveillance Training.
  • Thorough working knowledge of the detection, prevention, and treatment of corrosion.

Working Environment

This role is typically performed in a hangar, shop, or flight line environment, requiring physical movements and postures associated with these activities. May be required to lift objects up to 70 pounds. Special vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work conditions may vary, ranging from comfortable environments to exposure to inclement weather (e.g., severe temperature changes, wind, rain, snow, ice). May be required to work in high-noise areas, exposed to fumes, airborne particles, or electrical shock hazards. May perform off-site service on assigned detachments.

Pay

Hiring hourly rate of pay: $54.47 (set by Collective Bargaining Agreement).
