Material Handler SS Dayshift

Responsibilities

• Transfer product from inbound trucks to storage areas by product and lot number using an industrial forklift or hand lift, following written or verbal instructions.
• Operate forklift to pick up, move, place, and position materials or products as required.
• Perform routine servicing of equipment, including fueling and checking fluid levels and tires; notify maintenance of major issues or repairs.
• Prepare inventory reports and paperwork to monitor and account for inventory by lot and product number.
• Handle ingredients safely and in accordance with company quality standards.
• Communicate with shift managers to schedule deliveries and pick-ups.
• Participate in team meetings and support team concepts, programs, and policies to ensure best practices.
• Foster team cohesiveness, identify areas lacking cohesion, and work with the team to resolve issues.
• Understand and support Simmons’ operating systems (e.g., quality, security, company policies).
• Perform other duties as necessary to support business objectives.

Requirements

• Ability to work on feet for an entire shift.
• Ability to move or lift product weighing up to 75 pounds from floor to shoulder height (Dry Pet: up to 55 pounds).
• Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): eye protection, ear protection, steel-toed shoes, and any additional PPE as needed.
• Basic computer skills.
• Must pass and maintain a company-issued forklift license/certification.
• Knowledge of production scheduling is a plus.
• Ability to use company vehicles within a 60-mile radius.

Qualifications

• Preference for experience in a warehouse setting handling ingredients.
• Strong communication skills and decision-making ability.
• Ability to troubleshoot issues.
• Military experience valued; veterans are encouraged to apply.
