Material Handler Night Shift
Cornerstone Building Brands is a leading manufacturer of exterior building products for residential and low-rise non-residential buildings in North America. We serve residential and commercial customers across the new construction and Repair & Remodel (R&R) markets with a portfolio including vinyl windows, vinyl siding, stone veneer, metal roofing, metal wall systems, and metal accessories.
About the role
Operates a forklift to receive, deliver, and move materials between and throughout two adjacent manufacturing buildings (North and South). Primary tasks include receiving orders from production lines, delivering requested materials, unloading incoming cargo containers, and assisting with month-end inventory counting and accuracy verification.
Schedule
Night shift: Rotating 12-hour shifts, 6pm - 6:30am.
Pay
Pay range: $22.50–$24.50 per hour, plus a $1.50 shift differential.
Responsibilities
- Support production lines by communicating with the previous shift to determine order sequence and completion.
- Receive order paperwork, radio calls, or in-person requests for materials; review or record order details.
- Obtain materials from the North building (supply area) and extrusion warehouse, delivering them to the appropriate production line in a timely manner.
- Prioritize orders and determine delivery sequence based on production needs.
- Unload incoming materials from cargo containers in either building.
- Move unused PVC materials to extrusion for re-use.
- Clearly communicate with internal customers and record order information.
- Assist in month-end inventory counting, accuracy verification, and maintaining inventory records.
- Safely and effectively operate a forklift using hands, feet, and sensory abilities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- No prior experience required.
- Ability to read, write, and speak simple English for a manufacturing environment (e.g., production tags, safety labels, verbal communication).
- Ability to read a tape measure to the 1/16th inch and convert measurements to decimals using a chart.
- Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Ability to follow instructions in written, oral, or diagrammed form.
- Problem-solving skills for standardized situations with multiple variables.
- Ability to prioritize tasks based on production requirements.
- Knowledge of safety practices and procedures.
- Broad understanding of production line positions, products, and procedures.
Skills

- Ability to work quickly and lift/carry up to 75 pounds for short distances.

- Forklift operation: ability to use steering wheel, gears, levers, and foot pedals simultaneously; knowledge of forklift control functions (e.g., four-function lever, brake/clutch).
- Ability to operate a forklift while visually scanning the environment (without looking at controls).
- Physical demands: frequent pushing/pulling, bending, kneeling, squatting, twisting, reaching above shoulders and below waist, repetitive hand/arm movements, grasping, pinching, climbing, and working at heights.
Working Conditions
- Manufacturing environment with cement floors, stationary machinery, and moving equipment.
- Exposure to chemicals, solvents, glass, and vinyl dust (MSDS available upon request).
- Required personal protective equipment: hearing protection, steel-toe boots, safety glasses, arm guards, gloves, and safety vest.
- Safe work performance is mandatory; must report unsafe conditions and adhere to safety protocols.

- Forklift, carts, pallet jacks, paperwork, pens/pencils, and radio.
