Reporting directly to the Warehouse Supervisor, the Material Handler/Line Supply I supports the production line by continuously retrieving and staging necessary material at designated locations to ensure uninterrupted production.
Responsibilities
- Retrieve and stage materials along the production line to prevent halts due to lack of material.
- Read production and delivery schedules to determine sorting, transfer, and arrangement of packages and correct destination of loaded pallets.
- Work in a fast-paced environment with minimal error while maintaining a safety-first mentality.
- Deliver or route materials to departments using stand-up forklifts, RF scanners, pallet jacks, and other warehousing equipment.
- Maintain accurate product and material inventory through proper use of RF scanners and inventory control procedures.
- Work efficiently at both ends of the production line.
- Keep records of equipment performance and report issues to necessary parties.
- Complete quality checks accurately and adhere to quality assurance guidelines.
- Support efforts to implement and maintain the Responsible Care 14001 (RC14001)/Environment, Health, Safety, & Sustainability (EHS&S) management system.
- Conform with the EHS&S Policy and the Cardinal Rules.
- Maintain a safe and secure workplace and meet environmental site requirements.
- Support EHS&S objectives, targets, and assigned action plans or management programs.
- Understand EHS&S risks, impacts, and controls related to the job and functional area.
- Report accidents and incidents to a supervisor or the EHS&S department.
- Participate in required EHS&S training.
- Maintain customer service, teamwork, and adherence to the company’s Code of Conduct.
- Listen to customers, suppliers, and employees, and respond quickly to concerns.
- Follow guidelines for Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), quality, and food safety requirements.
- Report any food safety, security, or quality issues to management or the HACCP team.
- Provide flexible and innovative strategies to support new business opportunities.
- Be cost-effective in resource utilization to contribute to profitability.
- Strive for continuous improvement with a positive "Can Do" attitude.
- Perform other duties as requested.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED (or in the process of earning within a designated period).
- Valid stand-up forklift certification is required; in-house training provided prior to start.
- 1 or more years of stand-up forklift experience.
- Mechanical/manufacturing experience preferred.
- Ability to lift over 50 pounds and frequently lift up to 40 lbs.
- Frequent repetitive reaching, grasping, and lifting of materials/boxes up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Wear personal safety equipment as required.
- Specific vision abilities: close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- Regular use of hands and fingers to handle objects, tools, or controls.
- Frequent standing, walking, squatting, stooping, kneeling, reaching above the head, bending, or twisting.
- Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving ability with minimal guidance.
- Basic computer software and RF scanner skills.
- Strong prioritization, time management, and attention to detail.
