Material Handler I
About the role
The Material Handler I assists various laboratories, maintains inventory levels, and acts as a backup for Facilities management support. Key responsibilities include receiving and processing incoming material, managing temperature-sensitive items, issuing materials as needed, and performing cycle counts.
Responsibilities
- Receive and process incoming material securely and safely
- Store temperature-sensitive materials appropriately
- Issue materials to work orders and other uses
- Complete necessary transactions in the ERP system
- Perform cycle counts and analyze discrepancies
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Experience in receiving, stockroom, shipping, material handling, and inventory analysis roles
- Experience in a rapid-growth life science environment with temperature-sensitive materials
- Ability to create and maintain Excel skills as needed
- Experience in implementing, executing, and improving cycle count programs and 2-bin systems
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience entering data into ERP system - Cycle Count Module, Receiving parts, Shipping parts, RMA returns
- Track freight with various carriers as needed
- Use hand trucks, pallet jacks, and scales safely and effectively
- Multi-task and be flexible with tasks and schedules
- Work independently in a team environment
- AI & Digital Fluency: Demonstrate curiosity, sound judgment, and ability to leverage AI-enabled tools responsibly
Qualifications
- High School Diploma required
- Forklift Certification preferred, not required
- California Drivers License as Required
- Previous work experience in a lab preferred
- Excellent attention to detail
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Hybrid Work Model: In-person/onsite collaboration on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays; remote work on Fridays

Pay
The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are provided. Compensation is based on multiple factors including geography, experience, education, job-related skills, job duties, and business needs.
Schedule
The role is subject to a hybrid work model where employees must be onsite on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays in Redwood City, CA, and can work remotely on Fridays. Employees living within 50 miles of a Guardant facility must be onsite on these days.
