Material Handler

About The Role

The Material Handler at The Shade Store will manage loads and unloads material within a warehouse or storage facility. They will utilize various handling equipment to move material to and from trucks within the storage facility. This role requires following instructions and guidelines while performing tasks such as inventory control, managing material expiry, and maintaining on-time logistics.

Responsibilities

• Performs inventory control: cycle counts, material stocking, and scrapping.
• Assists in managing material expiry, allocation, kitting, and maintaining material condition requirements.
• Moves materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or other designated areas.
• Inspects received materials and sorts and places materials accordingly.
• Records amounts of material or items received and distributed.
• Maintains timing according to the production schedule to ensure on-time logistics.
• Records material handling data and information in a clear, concise format according to proper SOPs.
• Works in a team-based, cross-functional environment to complete kitting and delivery tasks required by shift schedule.
• Assists with month-end inventory count, prepares the warehouse for inventory, cleans/sorts/get all parts in proper location, makes sure parts are labeled properly for the month-end cycle count, places orders for parts as directed by manager, and follows up on all orders until received.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or GED.
• Able to read and understand English.
• One year (or more) of shipping, receiving, and warehouse experience.
• Forklift certification preferred.
• Ability to bend and lift 50+ lbs.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially MS Excel.
• Workable knowledge of WMS systems and associated business processes.
• Willingness to work closely with the warehouse Manager to troubleshoot and solve receiving and inventory problems.
• A concern for safety and adherence to safety procedures and wearing required safety equipment.

Qualifications

Must be able to work in a team-based, cross-functional environment and follow safety procedures. Must also have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Skills

• Microsoft Office skills, particularly MS Excel.
• Knowledge of WMS systems and business processes.
• Ability to lift and move heavy objects.
• Attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $16.00/hour.

Schedule

Shifts may vary based on department needs.
