Material Handler I

About the role

The Material Handler is responsible for receiving, moving, storing, counting, tracking, issuing, and shipping a variety of production parts, materials, and supplies. This role ensures the production floor has the right parts and materials at the right time to meet on-time delivery goals.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate inventory control by following established work instructions and processes.
• Move materials to and from receiving, production areas, and shipping using sorting bins, carts, or other equipment.
• Unpack, receive, and stock materials into storeroom locations.
• Read work orders to determine material and equipment needs for production cells.
• Issue critical materials to production cells.
• Complete the cycle count process for Value Stream; escalate variances in counts as needed.
• Respond to unplanned issues with internal customers in a timely manner.
• Pack and ship materials in accordance with contract requirements.
• Assist and/or backfill coworkers to complete daily tasks.
• Ensure compliance with export compliance rules.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor or management.

Requirements

• 0-1 year of relevant electronics manufacturing experience.
• Warehousing and materials packing knowledge; familiarity with lean principles.
• Outstanding manual dexterity and ability to concentrate on repetitive tasks.
• Ability to accurately follow detailed work instructions and understand standard work instructions.
• Basic math skills for calculations.
• Outstanding verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office.
• High School diploma or equivalent.

• Experience working with manufacturing software tools.

Working Conditions

• Normal manufacturing environment.
• Use of safety equipment, including eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps, and other required PPE.
• Exposure to loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust, or fumes.
• Standing: 50-75% of the time (approximate, varies by task).
• Sitting: 20-50% of the time (approximate, varies by task).
• Lifting: Up to 35 pounds.
• Pushing: Up to 35 pounds.
• Mental/Visual: Use of computer and eye-loop.
• Workspace: Cubicle, desk, workstation, or kitting carts.

Pay

Salary range: $20.76 to $28.37 per hour. Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience, skills, training, and qualifications. Some roles may be eligible for performance-based bonus programs.
