About the Role
Thermo Fisher Scientific is hiring a Material Handler for our new state-of-the-art distribution center in Greencastle, PA. This facility will enhance our East Coast distribution capacity for finished goods, improving customer experience. As a Material Handler, you will handle various products, from life-saving personal protective equipment to lab essentials, providing shipping, receiving, storage, and order fulfillment services.
Responsibilities
- Pick, pack, sort, arrange, count, store, and process items for storage and/or shipment according to established procedures and customer requirements.
- Sustain high-quality standards to ensure customers receive accurate products on time.
- Receive materials and/or finished goods daily, verifying quality, type, quantity, and documentation (e.g., packing lists).
- Safely operate distribution equipment, including powered industrial trucks at various heights.
- Use basic computer skills to navigate ERP systems, Outlook, and shipping software for daily operations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- General warehouse experience preferred.
- Ability to operate powered industrial trucks and work at various heights.
- Basic computer skills for ERP systems, Outlook, and shipping software.
- Accuracy in performing all job functions.
- Ability to follow instructions for routine and new assignments.
Environmental Conditions
- Able to lift up to 40 lbs. without assistance; continuously lift up to 50 lbs.
- Work in cold rooms/freezers (-22°F/-6°C to 36-46°F), room temperature (59–86°F), and warehouse environments.
- Exposure to loud noises from equipment/machinery.
- Required PPE: safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs, etc.
- Stand for full shift; walk, reach, push, pull, climb ladders, and occasionally sit, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Work with hazardous/toxic materials, including "packaged" hazardous materials.
- Work at heights.
Pay
- Competitive hourly pay rate based on experience.
- Additional 10% shift differential for 2nd shift and 15% for 3rd shift.
