Material Handler - Feed Stocker

Essential Functions/Duties

• Moves material using appropriate material handling tools and equipment including but not limited to; by-hand, hand truck, pallet-jack, dolly, and/or operation of forklifts or other vehicles.
• Opens and/or unwraps crates, boxes, cartons, and other containers using hammers, crowbars, cutting tools and tape.
• Collects, sorts, and/or stacks such items or materials as clothes, fertilizers, tools, lawn/garden supplies, machines, feed and all other products sold by the company.
• Places reusable items in containers, and disposes of waste by operating compactor or bailing machine.
• Performs such duties as spotting trucks, freight checking, and checking in inbound freight from trucking companies and vendors.
• Affixes labels and updates inventory records as needed.
• Determines nature and extent of damage to shipments received and reports such damage to the supervisor.
• Assists customers on the sales floor with questions about merchandise.
• Stocks shelves and all areas of the sales floor for maximum inventory on the sales floor.
• Cleans work areas and maintains equipment in an orderly manner.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.

Requirements

• Prefer experience as a Material Handler with working knowledge of inventory systems, proper storage methods, and record keeping.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Forklift certification preferred, not required.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license, must have a good driving record.
• Ability to work majority of shift standing, frequently lift 25 to 75 pounds, move merchandise, and physically participate in resets, remodels, and reconstruction projects.
