Material Handler - Federal Ammunition

With domestic manufacturing facilities in Minnesota, Idaho, Arkansas, and Missouri, we serve law enforcement, government agencies, and sporting enthusiasts globally. This position is based at our Anoka, MN location and reports to the Manufacturing Supervisor.

About the role

As a Material Handler, you will safely transport materials between locations to ensure a continuous flow of raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods. Supporting production is the primary objective.

Schedule

Weekend Night (Q) Shift: 7pm – 7am (or 6am – 6pm depending on department placement) on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and every other Thursday. Training may be held on a different shift.

Pay

Starting at $24.25/hour with a shift differential. After 90 days, pay increases to $26.49, with additional performance-based increases every 90 days, up to $34.02.

Responsibilities

• Transport completed products, work-in-process, raw materials, and scrap between operations and warehouses on a timely basis.
• Inform supervisor when materials are unavailable or delayed.
• Serve as a liaison between supervisor and co-workers.
• Maintain forklift and ensure battery is charged.
• Observe all safety and housekeeping rules; report unsafe conditions or hazards to supervisor.
• Demonstrate respect for company property, including forklifts, raw materials, work-in-process, and racking.
• Maintain general housekeeping by sweeping non-production areas and operating mechanical sweeper and scrubber.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to manage time efficiently and adapt quickly to unforeseen events.
• Polite and courteous demeanor with fellow employees.
• Ability to determine appropriate product locations and ask questions when unsure.
• Strong memory for locations and demonstrated safety-first attitude.
• Capable of operating a forklift (training provided; no prior experience required).
• Good numerical recognition and comprehension.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions.
• Ability to function effectively within a work team.
• Basic computer experience or willingness to learn.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision, multitask, and organize workload.

Preferred Experience

• Forklift experience.
• Material handling experience.

Physical Requirements

• 95% of the time spent moving, driving a forklift, and getting on/off the forklift up to 100 times per shift.
• Pushing or pulling hand trucks with loads up to 1,000 lbs.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. repeatedly.
• Stooping, bending, and walking.
• Near vision, far vision, depth perception, and field of vision for safety.
• 5% of the time spent on paperwork and equipment maintenance.

Mental Requirements

• High attention to safety.
• Reading and math comprehension.
• Good memory and ability to read basic floor layout maps.
• Ability to accurately prioritize tasks to maintain smooth and efficient operations.

Equipment Used

• Forklift.
• Mechanical sweeper and scrubber.

Working Environment

• Factory setting with exposure to dust, dirt, noise, vibration, moving objects, mechanical equipment hazards, and chemicals.
• Work is primarily collaborative, with supervisor and group lead available for questions.
• Overtime required as needed.
• Tasks may involve working with or near flammables and explosives; safety training provided.
