About the Role

The Kinetic Group is a world leader in the design, manufacturing, and distribution of small caliber ammunition under iconic brands such as B&P, CCI, Federal Premium, Fiocchi, HEVI-Shot, Remington, and Speer. As an Assembler at Federal Ammunition, you will work safely and maintain all quality standards while achieving production levels at or above the posted goal, ensuring customers receive quality products on time at a competitive price.

This position reports to the Factory Operations Supervisor and is based out of our Anoka location.

Responsibilities

  • Operate production machines according to job breakdown tasks.
  • Assemble and handle ammunition components and products.
  • Fill out paperwork and package loaded rounds.
  • Assist team with changeovers.
  • Follow all safety rules and procedures; keep area neat and orderly; report safety hazards to leadership immediately. Utilize the Safety Observation system.
  • Understand and follow all environmental and hazardous waste procedures.
  • Ensure product quality requirements and procedures are met; notify adjuster or leadership of excessive defective levels.
  • Achieve or exceed posted production goals to ensure on-time delivery to internal and external customers, including Law Enforcement and Military.
  • Be an effective team member and contribute ideas through the Kaizen card process.
  • Work scheduled shift hours plus overtime as needed.
  • Follow 5S and clean-up protocols.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills and work ethic.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team of up to 8 people.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to learn to use computers and/or precision measuring devices within 30 days.
  • Ability to work independently without continual supervision.

Preferred experience:

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment (high volume preferred).
  • Two-year Technical Degree in Manufacturing.

Physical Requirements

  • Standing and moving for about 90% of the time.
  • Reaching, handling, fingering, and manual dexterity to assemble and inspect.
  • Occasional lifting, moving, pushing, and pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasional unilateral lifting up to 20 pounds.
  • Near vision for detecting quality defects and far vision for operating forklifts or other mobile equipment.
  • Normal color vision and depth perception capability.
  • Climbing, stooping, bending, and crouching on a daily basis.

Mental Requirements

  • High level of mental attentiveness for safety and to manipulate and visually inspect small parts.
  • Reading and basic math comprehension to understand training guides, standard operating procedures, and quality information (charts, graphs, etc.).
  • Interpersonal communication skills to facilitate problem-solving and teamwork.
  • Flexibility to move between jobs and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Equipment Used

  • Hand tools, forklift, and other mobile equipment.

Working Environment

  • Manufacturing floor environment with exposure to noise, vibration, summer heat, moving objects, and mechanical equipment hazards.
  • Exposure to a wide variety of chemicals possible depending on assigned area.
  • Work is often done with and around others as part of work teams.
  • Tasks may include working with or exposure to potentially hazardous areas, including flammables and explosives. Safety training is provided.

Pay

Starting at $20.80/hour with a shift differential. First 90-day increase to $23.62, with additional increases every 90 days based on performance, up to $26.49.

Schedule

Shift Q: 7pm–7am, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and every other Thursday. Training during the first few weeks may be on another shift.
