About the role

The material handler moves, delivers and stores raw materials and finished goods in production or warehouse areas. Works directly under the supervision of the supply chain or operations leader.

Responsibilities

  • Bring packaging materials, components, tools and other supplies to workstations as needed.
  • Unload material from trucks and inspect for damage, reporting issues to buyers.
  • Ensure accuracy of all receipts and shipments against applicable paperwork and system data; report discrepancies to buyers.
  • Issue materials to departments upon request, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of system transactions.
  • Manage cores and pull engines as required for the production floor.
  • Put away parts within 4 hours after clearance through receiving inspection.
  • Monitor stockroom inventory and alert site lead buyer of discrepancies, low stock, or expiring stock.
  • Execute cycle counts per the schedule established by finance and supply chain buyer.
  • Work with operations for non-stores related inventory cycle counts.
  • Use approved material handling equipment to move parts/assemblies safely throughout the shop.
  • Follow all safety requirements and department procedures/work instructions.
  • Release J-Jobs (orders) per direction of leadership to support in-house builds.
  • Timely return of SRO to applicable team member for closure in Syteline.
  • Clear out trash, empty pallets, and excess packaging from production areas.
  • Move and update kanban cards to signal material needs and track flow.
  • Assist the shop floor with tasks that disrupt workflow.
  • Track inventory levels at work areas and communicate needs to buyers.
  • Identify and raise issues related to material flow or production disruptions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience in a warehouse environment and familiarity with FedEx and UPS.
  • Forklift driving experience.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Communication proficiency.
  • Good work ethic, attendance, and ability to work independently.
  • Teamwork orientation.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills.

Work Environment

  • Very active position requiring standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the day.
  • Must frequently bend, lift, and/or move items over 50 pounds.
  • Requires mobility on the shop floor.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Standing and walking for long periods of time.
