About the role
As a Material Handler at Univar Solutions, you will make an impact by mixing and packaging products, maintaining inventory, and assisting in shipping and receiving operations within the warehouse.
Responsibilities
- Load and unload company trucks, common carriers, and customer vehicles using forklifts and other required equipment.
- Ship and receive products according to company procedures and requirements.
- Maintain warehouse facility and equipment.
- Serve on the company’s in-plant or off-site emergency response team.
- Handle hazardous materials or waste: place into appropriate containers, receive and store hazardous waste from off-site generators, and prepare hazardous waste for shipment to recycling/disposal facilities.
- Complete inspections and paperwork associated with receiving, storing, and shipping hazardous waste.
- Manage hazardous waste while under company responsibility or control.
- Adhere to company quality processes and assist in resolving product quality issues efficiently.
- Comply with all company policies, rules, and guidelines.
- Perform all other duties as required or directed.
Requirements
- Ability to operate an industrial powered lift truck or forklift according to company procedures and governmental regulations.
- Knowledge of cGMP requirements as they pertain to FDARP (as applicable to the facility).
- Ability to use and maintain respiratory protection equipment.
- Ability to learn proper methods for handling hazardous materials and wastes, with training.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Physical ability to lift and carry at least 100 pounds.
- Physical ability to tilt back or break 800 lb. net drums onto a dolly.
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
- Must test negative on the company’s drug tests.
- Exposure to fumes, dirt, noise, and hazardous chemicals on a daily basis; may require safety equipment and/or precautions.
Work is performed in an indoor/outdoor warehouse environment.
