About the role
Responsible for movement of raw materials, finished products, and equipment throughout the facility using a forklift truck. May also utilize cranes, hoists, hand trucks, and other moving equipment to meet job requirements. Performs work under direct supervision. Handles basic issues and problems. This is a 1st shift position in our new Grand Rapids warehouse.
Responsibilities
- Accurately removes and stocks product, customer’s product, and various supplies according to inventory plan.
- Accurately selects product to fill customer orders and package them properly.
- Loads and unloads trucks and verifies that correct items are loaded and unloaded.
- Picks, processes, and packs orders; may be required to cut orders on Kaltenbach saw.
- Completes cycle counts.
- Identifies, holds, and segregates defective material.
- Completes paperwork per work instructions, when required.
- Performs general clean up.
- Inspects forklift at the beginning of every shift; reports issues to immediate supervisor or other designated personnel.
- Participates, supports, and complies with all health, safety, ISO, and 6S initiatives and requirements.
- Assists in any other duties to support the operation, as requested by supervisor or team lead.
- Works directly on the warehouse floor on or around heavy machinery.
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED.
- Ability to read and write English (in Quebec, must read and write French).
- Ability to lift and carry up to 70 lbs. for 100 feet.
- Ability to perform basic math skills.
- Previous forklift experience.
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time and perform bending, twisting, squatting, reaching, and grasping motions.
- Safety mindset.
- Use of handheld measuring tools.
- Basic computer skills and knowledge, such as with database programs and Microsoft Office programs.
- Ability to cross train in all areas of the warehouse.
Pay
$21–$25 per hour to start.
