Material Handler

About the role

The Material Handler and Receiver is responsible for the efficient movement, storage, and control of materials throughout the facility.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate records and assist in inventory control by identifying, labeling, and placing materials and supplies in stock, recording location of inventory.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
• Support and comply with the company’s Integrated Management System, which aligns with ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environmental), and other applicable standards.
• Label deliveries and allocate them to their designated place.
• Receive shipments, verify packages according to order and invoices, and sign paperwork upon receipt.
• Collaborate with procurement staff to list expected deliveries.
• Unload packages from incoming trucks and inspect contents to ensure they are undamaged; hold driver accountable prior to unloading/end of delivery.
• Follow established procedures, contribute to continual improvement, and promote a culture of quality, environmental responsibility, and workplace safety.
• Adhere to and ensure lockout procedures are followed any time equipment is being cleaned or maintained; report conditions to supervision.

Requirements

• Comply with company safety policies and requirements; attend scheduled safety training.
• Two (2) years' related material handler or receiving clerk experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Must be able to read and comprehend all documentation in English.
• Working knowledge of ERP computer programs for entering data.

Work Environment

The job is performed under occasional temperature variations and in a manufacturing production environment. Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and other industrial conditions.
