RTP Company, headquartered in Winona, Minnesota, is a global compounder of custom engineered thermoplastics with over 20 manufacturing plants worldwide. The company develops customized thermoplastic compounds in over 60 different engineering resin systems for applications requiring specialized properties.
About the role
This position is responsible for all aspects of conveying and packaging product, mixing additives, and handling raw materials. The role ensures quality, safety, and housekeeping standards are met.
Responsibilities
- Identify differences between final packaging
- Properly make up boxes and mark samples correctly
- Monitor printer to ensure proper print quality
- Monitor in-feed and out-feed conveyors to ensure proper movement of boxes
- Operate all controls on the wash station
- Operate AT01 elevator and material hoist
- Hand load additives in AT01 batches
- Maintain levels in additive tanks and update records on the control room board
- Monitor product levels in all holding tanks
- Maintain production materials storage area, including recording inventory transactions
- Perform machine cleaning and document work completed (logs, data reports, procedures)
- Participate in training, retraining, and continual improvement processes
- Follow and comply with all safety and work rules; maintain departmental housekeeping standards
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-speed environment while following standardized work processes and safe work practices
- Ability to operate and monitor equipment to ensure quality production
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly and stand for a 12-hour shift
- Ability to safely drive a forklift
- Read and follow manuals and procedures
- Maintain a clean and safe workspace
- Dependable with excellent attendance
- Positive attitude and willingness to work overtime as needed, including every other weekend
- Willingness to work in temperature extremes (hot and cold)
- Ability to pass a forklift test and respirator fit test
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
Qualifications
- Preferred high school diploma or equivalent
- Preferred forklift experience
- Preferred previous manufacturing experience
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Regularly stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Use hands to handle tools, controls, and equipment, including overhead work
- Talk and hear to coordinate equipment operation
- Use safety equipment (safety glasses, shoes, respirators, face shields, hearing protection, gloves, etc.)
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts, temperature extremes, wet/humid conditions, dust, fumes, and airborne particles
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; occasionally handle up to 2000 pounds with mechanical equipment
- Climb ladders and stairs
- Occasionally sit
- Exposure to noise levels above OSHA action level requiring hearing protection
- Specific vision abilities may include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
