About the Role

This is a 12-month contract position for a Material Handler in Madison, GA. The role involves mainly manual labor, including unloading trucks and stacking pallets (typically under 25 lbs, with some items weighing less than 5 lbs). Attention to detail is essential for verifying labels on boxes and matching them to pallets. Scanning experience and stand-up forklift experience are required.

You will use a variety of equipment such as forklifts, conveyors, cranes, handcarts, and power trucks to move materials, parts, assemblies, and finished products within a plant, office, or warehouse. The role may also involve maintaining records and developing skills in basic tasks, techniques, and procedures within one skill area or process.

Responsibilities

  • Unload trucks and stack pallets (items typically under 25 lbs).
  • Verify labels on boxes and match them to pallets with attention to detail.
  • Operate scanning equipment and stand-up forklifts.
  • Use various material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, conveyors, cranes, handcarts, power trucks).
  • Move materials, parts, assemblies, and finished products within a plant, office, or warehouse.
  • Maintain records as required.
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality guidelines.
  • Work under general to limited supervision.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Zero (0) to one (1) year of warehouse experience or related experience and/or training.
  • Basic skills training in an analytical/scientific method or operational process area (e.g., material handling, logistics, manufacturing production).
  • Ability to obtain and/or maintain appropriate licenses, training, or certifications as needed.

Qualifications

  • Effective communication skills to ensure understanding by co-workers and supervisors.
  • Ability to read, write, interpret, and comprehend documents in English and perform basic math calculations.
  • Ability to operate in a metrics-driven environment.
  • General computer skills.

  • Regularly required to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, balance, climb, lift, crouch, reach, pull, push, grasp, talk, hear, and twist.
  • Frequent use of hands to finger, handle, feel, pick, or type, which may include repetitive motion of the wrists, hands, or fingers.
  • Ability to lift and/or move over 50 lbs.
  • Exposure to work near moving mechanical parts, extreme weather conditions, and vibration.
  • Occasional exposure to high, precarious places and fumes/airborne particles.
  • Work environment can be hot in the summer (no AC) and cold in the winter (limited heating).
  • Noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.

Pay

$16–$20 per hour.

Schedule

  • 40 hours per week.
  • Option 1: Sunday–Wednesday, 10 hours/day (5:00 AM to 3:30 PM).
  • Option 2: Thursday–Saturday, 12 hours/day (5:00 AM to 5:30 PM).
