Material Handler
Brief Description
Perform advanced set up, operation, and monitoring of production in a work center and participate in the continuous improvement process to address safety, production, and quality improvements. Assist with material flow, provide guidance to support personnel, operate and maintain manufacturing equipment, conduct in-process quality checks, assist with equipment maintenance, interpret production work orders, count and record inventory, spin down pre-slit coil stock, load/unload vehicles, and comply with safety rules and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Set up and maintain manufacturing equipment
- Operate equipment to fabricate, manufacture, assemble, or move product
- Conduct in-process quality checks and resolve issues as required
- Absorb and maintain equipment for proper function
- Operate forklift as required to support manufacturing
- Interpret production work orders and record/report production data including scrap
- Maintain work area, equipment, and tools in a clean and organized manner
- Count, record, and report inventory as required including but not limited to sheet, coil and accessory stock, shop supplies, skids, cores, etc.
- Spin down pre-slit coil stock and complete appropriate packaging per specs of each order
- Load and unload will-call customers, LTL vans and flatbed trucks with forklift (includes palleted coils & sheets, load customer equipment and maintain/log all shipments) as required
- Able to be flexible and respond to the changing needs of the organization, including working overtime as required
Requirements
- Educational requirements: High school diploma or GED preferred; trade school or military experience a plus
- Experience & Skills: Forklift experience preferred; Must be able to lift or pull a minimum of 50 pounds; Requires solid written and verbal communication skills; Demonstrated mechanical aptitude including basic troubleshooting skills; Strong analytical, conceptual, and planning skills required; Excellent math skills and overall PC literacy are required; Must be detail oriented, self-motivated, and disciplined with the ability to multi-task; Team oriented with effective communication skills preferred; Must successfully complete a criminal background check, physical, drug screen and E-verify; Self-motivated with the ability to work under minimal supervision; Detail oriented with the ability to inspect material for quality conformance using measuring devices and drawings
