Material Handler

About the role

Material Handlers are responsible for the movement of incoming and stored production materials, finished goods, and other supplies. During the shipping and receiving process, you will record inventory status and match deliveries to purchase orders while following standard fork truck operations and safe work practices.

Responsibilities

• Operate fork trucks safely during loading, unloading, and transportation of goods around the plant.
• Verify accuracy of quantity and quality of incoming deliveries.
• Ensure proper labeling and storage placement for materials.
• Maintain clean, safe work areas to reduce hazards.
• Check fork truck functionality prior to use and complete accurate daily logs.
• Maintain a positive approach toward completing daily tasks and supporting production areas.
• Accurately maintain documentation, operate equipment safely, and communicate effectively with team members, vendors, and deliverers.
• Work diligently to keep production areas well-stocked and unload incoming deliveries in a timely manner.
• Follow written and verbal instructions to efficiently manage material input and output.
• Adhere to all safety procedures, continuously improve safety throughout the plant, and meet safety training goals.
• Use proper tools and machinery safely and support company policies and safety requirements.
• Maintain dependability, meet attendance requirements, and follow production and warehouse team rules.
• Assist the Warehouse Manager and Supply Chain team in planning delivery activities by communicating material needs, identifying equipment maintenance issues, and addressing quality and productivity concerns.
• Provide suggestions for continual production and quality improvements.
